Road Base is a crushed blue/grey rock ranging in 20mm in size down to dust. The smaller rocks and dust help to compact the Road Base down hard to give you a firm stable surface to work with. Our Road Base is CBR 45 which stands for the ‘California Bearing Ratio’ and refers to the strength of the rock itself. This grade is extensively used by road builders around Ipswich and Brisbane. When compacted properly, 100mm of road base can compact down to 80-75mm. For the best compaction make sure the material is wet, this makes sure the fines combine tightly with the larger stones.

Deco is orange/brown in colour and is usually 4mm down to dust. It is used as a compacting material but it does not work as well as Road Base or Deco. It works best for paths, because if you use it for driveways or heavy traffic areas it can wash out and diminish quickly.

Crusher Dust

Crusher Dust is a crushed blue metal dust. It is approximately 8mm slithers down to dust and is blue grey in colour. You can stabilise this by mixing cement with it, this will make it more durable. Crusher Dust can also be used to put under water tanks, and concrete slabs or to backfill trenches.
